Unless it from those boys in blue. Just got my third ticket in the last 10 or so months, and the fourth in a year and a half. A list:

1. Speeding (okay, okay, no excuse)
2. No front license plate (Who wants them, they look ugly anyways)
3. Noise pollution (Hey, it was good music)
4. No mounted front license plate and tinted windows (But damn does my car look sharp with it like that)

Well, just me ranting about my trials and tribulations. Man, one of these days i'm gonna be real smart with them, but that will be when i can afford a real good lawyer too....

Man ... that sucks!! You would think that they would just issue a warning. I got pulled over for an expired sticker but I had paid the tax and I was just waiting for the replacement sticker in the mail. He didn't even write a warning but he did tell me that my tinted plate cover was illegal. I asked him straight up, have you ever given a ticket for it ... and he said no but he thought I should know about it. I guess he was just a cool cop. I never did replace the cover because a white license plate on a black car just looks like crap if you ask me.

It sounds like you need to move to a state that doesn't require front plates or you may loose your license at the rate you are going.

Ontario has the same laws.

No front plate, $110
Speeding 1-14km/h over $110
Noise bylaw $110
Illegal Tinted Windows $380
Cover on the license plate $110

Ive only gotten warnings about no front plate, but I always kept a GM stamped set of "receipts" in the car to say that the parts were just on order, and I always had the front plate in the car on the back seat.

Gotten pulled over twice for it

Once was a routine traffic blitz that the cops were doing.
The second time was because a bunch of boneheads in the next town over were driving around in a red camaro, jumping out and beating people then jumping back in and driving off.

It was funny.

Wow, we are so poor here in KY they only make us have one plate, oh well less wind resistance.

Same way in Tn, no front plate needed here either.

Don't you love it. No drilling in the front bumper for us. Plus, we don't have to have a visual smog inspection. Just the sniffer.

I'm amazed by how people ----- about getting ticketed for no front plate, when is illegal in their state, sometimes more than once, yet knowingly run around with no front plate.

Lemme get a pic of my simple solution, that requires ZERO holes & ZERO mods to your car....

I had it mounted with Brackets drill underneath, they loosened over time, one side fell off, and i decided screw it, and i'll just put it back in the wind shield. Oh well. I just don't like how it looks, thats all.

Oh, the license plate will only cost me about $20 total, i'm more scared about the tinted windows fine, which no other cop has said anything about the other three times i got pulled over.

I guess I'm lucky.... I've only been stopped once in my red car ever; that was for doing 42 in a 35 mph zone. The officer was incredulous that I had a clean driving record and had his base run my name and DL three times.

I told him just because a person had a car that would run 140+ mph didn't necessarily mean they drove it that fast. :D

Only once? I think it cuz i'm still fairly young, only 20.

But now i remember why i started this thread

Has anyone had experiance taking their own window tint off? Any tips? I heard it was kind of time consuming, but i rather save the money and use it for the fine then to take it to a shop. Thanks.

It's no fun...heat helps, a razor blade, and a little soapy water, maybe a little acetone, but you have to be CAREFUL with acetone, to prevent getting it on your door panels & such.

Not as bad as paint thinner, but still.....

I had a shop remove mine and they quoted me like a hundred bucks if I remember correctly. They used a steam removal method that worked great. Of course I also had them replace it with new film and I think they may have cut me an additional break because of that. My original film was old and in bad shape but it's what saved my interior ... no fade whatsoever. You also have to be extra careful on the rear hatch with the defroster lines ... one cut and they are done for.

Good point Darrell! I wasn't thinking. On the rear hatch...Pay to have it removed. It's worth it.

hmmmm... that goodness i don't have to remove the hatch tint, just the windows. I'm gonna take it in soon to get quoted, but if its $100, I guess i'll be doing it myself. I have a couple of months to look into it

I have been stopped once for no front plate, but it was not in the GTA. I refuse to put a plate on my GTA. I'll just take my chances. The other cars i have all have a front plate, but if I have a car that looks bad with a front plate I will just roll the dice.....

Sniffer....what is this sniffer you are talking about?

Sniffer....what is this sniffer you are talking about?

The probe the stick up your tail pipe, to 'sniff' the exhaust, and take a reading.

Oh I know, I was referring to Kuul saying he has a sniffer test where the part of Tn I'm in there is no sniffer or visual or anything like that. If there were a visual I would royally be screwed....no cats, no AIR, no EGR....heck, no charcoal canister.

Yea man, I live in upper middle TN in Sumner county. We have to have our emissions tested, to see how much carbon my car is putting out. I'm glad we don't have a visual, because I don't have a CAT., smog equipment(AIR), or charcoal canister. But, it passes with flying colors, so I don't know what all the hype is about. Maybe it's because I have a new engine, IDK. See ya later TN brotha' :D

For taking off your tint, spray on windex and peel off the tint widex the window and use like 0000 steel wool. make sure to keep the window wet. For your back hatch be careful not to rub to hard or you can damage you rear defrost. I have taken off many crappy tint jobs on cars I have owned it works.

Thanks for all the input, but thank gosh i don't have to pull the tint of the hatch. Plus, the lines on the hatch are already cracked, oh well...
