hey you guys. i need advice. in my town there is a 87 black gta for sale. 5-speed, the first style of the cross lace rims, t-tops, didgital dash, beachwood interior. the guys wants 2500 for it. he said the motor was rebuilt a year ago but he didnt know much about it because it was his sons car. the body is in rough shape. dents in every panle. inerior is shot. no rot that i saw, but it did have the crack in the piller at the corner of the t-top like alot of these cars get.
i wouldnt pay 2500 for it, but i was wondering what you guys think a fair price would be.

Sounds like a LOT less than a $2500 car...

If it's all there, not rusty, and the engine and tranny are solid, that's not that bad of a price if someone was looking for a good car to start with. I wouldn't do it if I ever wanted to get the money back out of it though. But start with a complete solid car, drop cash on body and paint work, seat covers, and carpet, and it sounds like you'd be left with a nice ride. Probably not worth it if you were gonna send it out to be worked on, but as a project it could be.

imo its a 1200 dollar car..dents all around bad interior ..and even if the motor was rebuilt last nite..its still a 305..if he wants 2500 for it he should part it out..at least it has a digital dash..keep looking

thanks you guys. thats exactly what i was thinking. i told myself i wouldnt pay more than 1300 for it after i looked at it. i just wanted to make sure it really wasnt worth more than that. i already have an 88 and i dont need another one, but i would love to have a 5-speed :) thanks you guys, Brian

It'd be cool if you could get it as a parts car and swap the manual over to your car. :D
