Here's one of the nicer GTA's that has been listed on Ebay in some time now. It looks to be in excellent condtion with leather, t-tops and a 5.7 because it's an '89.

It will be interesting to see what this cars goes for.

I have been watching that one too...you think the owner would post more pics ? for some reason most times they never really get to close to the car. I would love to see the up close ones..

In many cases, owners will post up a car like this on Ebay just to get exposure and the actual purchase will take place separate from the auction itself. I would just email the seller and tell them that you are very interested but you would like to see some more close up shots. If they are serious and the car is "as represented," they should be more then happy to oblige. I think that it would also be important to see underneath of the car ... which is a good indicator of it's actual condition. I do however believe that this is a nice GTA but pictures can of course be deceiving. It would also be nice to know more about it's history as well. The one concern is that the seller doesn't have a feedback history to go by so you really would need to do your due diligence with researching the car's history.

One other note ... If you ask for additional pictures, ask to see the SPI label. I would be very interested to see if the car came with the factory CD. If it did, it would make this particular '89 a very rare GTA.

Darrell, it wouldn't have that steering wheel unless it came with the U1A CD player from the factory.... all the rest had the steering wheel controls.

So that alone makes it rare, but for Pete's sake don't mention it to the seller!

I think that this guy already knows a little about these cars. Here's his reponse to my inquiry about his car.

"I am the second owner, the cars is in perfect shape, the owner before me was a single older guy he kept it in a climate controled garage and so do I. I drive it maybe once every couple of months. If I sent current pictures the car has not changed one bit. The t-tops have never been off the car, I still have the bags they came in. The floor mats are still in their bags, never been used, The back seats have never been sat in, the inside is perfect all original, the outside is perfect too. The reserve is 14,000. Thank-you If you are interested, yes, I can send you current pictures no problem''.

I think that our secret may be out and our car values are rising .... but who really knows for certain?

I think it did b/c that is the correct steering wheel for the her. I have been doing some reading. Remember the CD player is not controlled by the steering wheel controls.

This is true but as we all know around here, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's original to the car. I have been able to find both that steering wheel and CD player available on Ebay. It would be easy to purchase these items and try to pass them off as original equipment and that's why the SPI label is the only way to really know for certain.

The other car on Ebay right now that's only slightly higher mileage is also interesting. The reserve on this car was met at under 6k. Someone might get a pretty good deal on this car.

...Oh I agree..but to add that steering wheel with the CD player he may know what he is doing...
Look at the pics of the engine it dirty to start..on the right hand side (drivers side) he has a coil box (that's what I call them) and the distributor cove cap is missing and it looks like the coil box wirers are all over the place...
I think this car was driven alot harder then we think...I know I sound hash but I can only tell you what I see....
Plus look at the Pics of the interior it's spotless. I feel if a person car is clean inside like this car is..it should be some what as clean under the hood some what..this car is not..NOT saying this car is not ALL that and a bag of chips now...it is...Just ask questions I'm saying.

But that is my 2 cents...
