Daniel Peckham's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Daniel just sent in this great shot of his GTA at rest.... "This is my GTA, and I'm damn proud to own one. I got it in May 2004, with a loan from my dad. It is a 5.0 with the T-5 manual transmission. I don't have any mods on it yet, and I've never been to a track for any official timing, but the fact that it can conquer most imports even after doing a 10 yard burnout is pretty satisfying. It would make my day to see it with the other "88s in the owner's gallery. Daniel Peckham."

Jody Schwaller's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Jody sent along this great photo of his car, along with these comments: "I bought her a few months ago and was not sure if she was a real GTA but a fax to Pontiac Historical Services and $35 later, I found that she was in fact a real GTA. Here she is with a new set of emblems from car motorsports.com, Rich @ car motorsports was very helpful with the new emblem placement as mine only had the nose emblem on when purchased. 1988 Gunmetal Grey GTA, 350 TPI, Auto, Digital dash, 3.27 rear. Jody Schwaller, Martinez, CA."

Nathan Blanchard's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Nathan's car is without a doubt one of the nicest GTAs I've seen in recent memory, and was the December 2001 GTA Spotlight Feature Car

Jason McNally's 1988 Trans Am GTA

A definite muscled-out GTA with a decidedly wicked stance and appearance; Jason's car was the November 2001 GTA Spotlight Feature Car

Ozzy Resto's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Ozzy supplied some info on his GTA: "I acquired this GTA in spring of 2000 when my wife took me to a used car lot to look at a Volvo. I had previously owned a 1988 Camaro Sport Coupe and had to trade it in for a car my wife could drive. When I had the Camaro I always loved the looks of the GTAs so this was an opportunity I could not pass. Instead of driving home the Volvo, we drove home the GTA. Since then I have done a few mods just to make it sound and run better and it does just fine. The exterior is unchanged to maintain the classic GTA look. The engine is a 305 TPI, with TH700-R4, 3.27:1 rear, TES, Catco, MSD, March, Hypertech, and many more."

Eric Salow's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Here's some info on Eric's '88 GTA: "Description: 46,000 original miles, 350 TPI auto, black leather, digital dash, aftermarket stereo system. No engine mods as of yet except for K&N filter. I am 18 years old and this is my first car. My dad bought it for me on the 2nd day of my senior year in high school. I absolutely love this car. I have always wanted a Tranny and it is a real treat to own a GTA. I hope to see it in the gallery soon. The site is incredible. I have found out everything I wanted to know about my car. Thanks so much."

Sean Colon's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Sean sent in this great looking new shot of his '88 GTA. Note the custom rear wing still evident in the photo, but the exterior color is now Black instead of Flame Red Metallic..... A nice looking GTA.....

Jerry White's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Jerry told a little bit about his car....

"It is a 1988 GTA. It has 150k on it and it looks great for its age!! I got it painted last year and I put the bird on because I liked the way it looked!! I haven't done much to it and it's been very dependable.... and, of course, very beautiful!! It has the 350 with digital dash and I think it is just a great car."

Robert Hill's 1988 Trans Am GTA

A short note from Robert..... but definitely to the point....

"HI, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF YOU COULD ADD MY CAR TO THE PHOTO GALLERY, 1988 GTA 5.7, 71,000 MILES, FLAME RED EXTERIOR WITH CAMEL INTERIOR. THANKS, ROBERT HILL IN TAMPA, FLORIDA."

Anthony Cusenza's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Here's a great look at Anthony and his car, with a great backdrop to boot. Nice car, Anthony.....!

Dave Fouche's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Dave sent in this photo of his new GTA for the Photo Gallery..... the Flame Red Metallic is a great shade on these cars, it was one of the most popular colors.

Gary Mruz's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Gary sent in this shot of his Bright Red GTA; nice car, Gary, and thanks for the photo!

Nick St. Michael's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Nick sent in this about his car: "I have a 88 GTA... it has a 350 tpi w/ 700R4.... GM 3.27 9-bolt rearend. Modifcations are: MSD 6AL, LINGENFELTER THROTTLE BODY, 3" FLOWMASTER, JET STAGE 2 CHIP, JET AIRFOIL, COLD AIR INDUCTION, K&N AIR FILTER, PORTED INTAKE, B&M MEGA SHIFTER."

Sean Prouse's 1988 Trans Am GTA Notchback

Here is the beautiful 1988 GTA Notchback owned by Sean Prouse. Sean's GTA is a 305 TPI car with 84,000 miles and is fully loaded.

Scott Tempesta's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Scott sent in several shots of his 1988 GTA..... above is one of the best ones of the lot. Here's a little bit about his GTA:

"Thanks for the help with my wheel width question. Here are some pictures of my GTA on the beach at Ft. De Soto State Park in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida. Pick the one you like best to post if you don't mind. I just picked this car up all stock other than the stereo system, with EVERYTHING in working order with 81,000 miles for $5000. Since it has always been a Florida car, there is NO rust whatsoever. It has the 5.7 liter engine, digital dash and the black cloth interior in perfect condition. I have no plans to change anything other than fluids and tires as necessary. You've created a FANTASTIC site that I have referred to MANY times during my search for the right GTA. Thanks for everything, Scott Tempesta, Tampa, Florida.....".

Thanks for the photo, Scott.....

Jesse Edwards' 1988 Trans Am GTA

Jesse is another new entry to the Photo Gallery; he just sent his car's photo in this week. Here's his commentary:

"My car is an 88 GTA. Engine is a 350 with TPI. The car is all stock except for Flowmaster exhaust and a Pioneer Premier CD player. Future mods include cold air induction, ram air done with a ducted fan remote control jet engine and a paint job. Probably keep the color the same. Thats it."

Great photo, Jesse. Thanks for sending it in to the Source Page.

Nathan Waldon's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Here's Nathan's commentary:

"HEY, I'M A BIG FAN OF YOUR SITE. IT'S BY FAR THE BEST T.A. SITE I'VE FOUND. I LOOKED AT YOUR PICTURE GALLERY AND I WAS HOPING THAT YOU WOULD POST THE PICTURE OF 1988 MY TRANS AM GTA. HERE'S SOME INFO ON IT: IT HAS BEEN LOWERED 2 INCHES, CUSTOM PAINT, AFTERMARKET SUNROOF, BOYD 16" WHEELS, BORLA MUFFLER WITH '97 CAMARO TIPS, LEATHER, DIGITAL DASH, MSD IGNITION, HOOKER HEADERS, SLP MAF SENSOR, T.P.I 350 THAT HAS HAD A PERFORMANCE REBUILD SLAPPED ON IT, A FATTER CAM, AND A SNEEKY PETE NITROS SETUP FROM NOS THAT, BY THE WAY, MAKES A LOT OF NEEDED HORSEPOWER. AND I HATE TO SAY IT, BUT IT DOESN'T GET TO SEE THE STREET VERY OFTEN, BUT I BOUGHT IT TO TURN IT INTO A MONSTER AT THE TRACK, AND IT'S NOT TOO SHABBY!! IT'LL TAKE THE 8th. MILE IN 8.45 AT 82 MPH, (FASTER THAN ANY MUSTANG I'VE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF RACING!!!) IF YOU COULD POST THIS PICTURE I'D BE REALLY GRATEFUL."

No problem, Nathan, here it is! Thanks for sending in the photo.

Dominick Strippoli's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Dom's GTA has received a few custom touches.....:

"I bought the car with 122,000 Miles from the original owner. It had a 5.7L 350TPI with an A/T and all the options, including the WS6 Performance Package. I completely restored the car inside and out. I got a custom paint job and added Nitto Extreme Performance Tires......"

Joe Tremblay's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Joe's GTA has undergone a bit of customization; here's the note he sent in with the photo:

"I sent a photo of my 88 GTA. The car had only 35,00 miles on it when I bought it several years ago, but it had been wrecked. It originally had the 5.7 but I took that out and put in in my truck. In its place I just swapped in a T.P.I. 383 stroker. I don't know if anyone will like my car and I am sure the purists will hate it. Besides the motor I have done a million other mods. Including the 17" gold plated wheels, 255/40 GSC tires. The next planned mod in a rear gear swap. The 3.27 rear has seen better days and the 383 isn't making it any better. I would also like to get original fenders as the bodyman put just regular TA fenders on. The car has the usual digital dash, leather seats, and all the other GTA goodies. Like it or not, I love my car; it is an obsession. Thanks for your time....."

Thanks for sending in the photo, Joe; here it is!

Chris Bobowicz's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Chris sent in this shot of his '88 GTA for the Gallery, along with the following information..... "1988 GTA..... 5.0L/Automatic..... 70K Miles..... Best time: 15.402 @ 85.99 MPH"

Thanks for the photo, Chris.....

Daves Couture's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Daves is another of our friends from north of the border. Here's his car, recently sent in to the Source Page.....

"My GTA has only 52,000 miles. I bought it at 46, 000 miles and with me as the owner, anybody can expect a big bump in mileage. This car is equipped with the 5,7L (350ci) and have a lot of options (With air conditioning). I put 255/50ZR16 in rear to give my car more grip and more stability. 245/50ZR16 are standard in front. The four tires are Bridgestone RE 940 ZR. I'm very proud of it and didn't see this kind of car with low mileage very often. I take it 6 months a year because of the weather conditions here in Quebec. I enjoy it a lot when I drive it. Long live GTA."

Adam Piccirillo's (and his Dad's) 1988 Trans Am GTA

Adam sent in this photo of his family's great GTA:

"Hi. My name is Adam, and my dad and I bought an '88 GTA in November of 1998. Just wondered if you would post it for me! Sure thing, Adam..... that's what the Photo Gallery is here for! Some facts about the car: '88 Trans Am GTA, 79,000 miles, 305 TPI w/automatic, Accel ignition and coil, Edelbrock headers, Banks exhaust system, and a JET performance chip. We soon hope to replace the 305 with the 350 with the same performance additions. All in all, it is still quite an "over-achieving 305", as we like to call it. If you could post it for us, that would be great!!!

Here you go Adam, and thanks for sending in the photo.

Ron Rizzotti's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Another submission for the Photo Gallery is this car owned by Ron Rizzotti. Here's his commentary:

"I WAS LOOKING THROUGH THE FIREBIRD WEBSITES AND I CAME ACROSS MY CAR. IT DOESN'T HAVE THE LOUVERS ANYMORE AND THE SPOILER IS CUT. THE ORIGINAL OWNER POSTED IT ON THERE. I FIGURE THAT I AM THE 4TH OR 5TH OWNER OF THIS 41,800 MILE BEAUTY. I AM TRYING TO FIND A STOCK AERO SPOILER FOR IT , I MIGHT EVEN PUT ON LOUVERS BECAUSE IT LOOKS SO GOOD. IF YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND AN AERO SPOILER, PLEASE CONTACT ME. THANKS. I THINK YOU'LL AGREE THAT THIS IS A GORGEOUS GTA."

Indeed, Ron.......

Brian Balash's 1988 Trans Am GTAs

Brian recently sent in this shot of his two GTAs and lone T/A for the P.G., the black one being new to him. Here's his note on the first two cars: "Could you post these for me? The 1986 T/A is a 305 TPI that has 150,000 miles; the 1988 GTA is also a 305 TPI w/automatic transmission, pretty rare to my knowledge. Thanks........."

Richard Sampat's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Richard recently sent in this shot of his GTA for the P.G.:

Nice looking car, Richard........

Stephen Tsaclas' 1988 Trans Am GTA Notchback

Stephen recently sent in a photo of his car along with the following commentary............ "My name is Stephen Tsaclas........and I wanted to know if you could be kind enough to post a picture of my 88 GTA Notchback.........if so, please write back and let me know when I can look for it.........Thank you."

Stephen, thank you for sending in the photo...........

Gary Whitby's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Gary is yet another Canadian that has sent in photos of his car for the P.G. He also sent the accompanying commentary:

"LOVE the site...I've already spent hours pouring over RPO codes and my options........... My little girl is a 1988 GTA finished in Flame Red Metallic, Black Ventura leather (one of about 500), LB9 305 TPI V-8 mated to a Borg-Warner 5-gear (one of approx 800), she is fully loaded except for factory subwoofer, and factory-delete manual mirrors...The car is bone stock except for a modified ram air system (home-made...... LOL), 3" stainless exhaust by DynoMax, and platinum spark plugs. I plan on bolting on underdrive pulleys this year.

Probably the most amazing thing about my GTA is that it has been driven 177,000 KM and is still shockingly clean! The car turns heads all day long! I love it! It has been repainted once only and is a true testimony to what love and attention (and no winters) can do for a car. She is retired from daily duty now and is out mostly on weekends and has seen about 5 days of winter once (this year when my 96 Z24 broke...figures..Chevy hahaha)... (NOTE: So much for endearing himself to the Chevrolet crowd out there, I guess.........)

Everything still works except for my cruise control and AC which will be fixed this year.

Anyway, here are some pics for you.....I'd love to see one up!

Gary Whitby Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

Well, Gary, here it is......... just what you wanted to see! Thanks for sending in the photos.

John O'Connell's 1988 Trans Am GTA

John submitted this photo of his nice 1988 black GTA. He says it is still stock, except for the addition of "Flowmaster mufflers"...........

Looks plenty sharp to me, John........

Dominick DelRosso's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Dom's GTA was the Spotlight car for January 1999.

Joseph Arseneau's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Joseph's GTA is another good example of owner personalization, with the installation of custom wheels which accetuate the car's exterior. Good job.....

Jeff Sherman's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Jeff submitted this sharp photo of his GTA, along with the following commentary: "It's a '88, bought Aug 10, 1998 with 10,680 miles; now has 11,723; Flame Red Paint, Black Ventura Leather, 350 TPI, and the digital dash is 100% working. It's a cliche, but the car still smells new. The car is also 100% original, right down to the tires, spare tire and the coolant fluid. The only non-stock item on the car is the full tank of gas in it. "

Pretty much says it all, don't you think? A really nice car, Jeff.

Paul Shaffar's's 1988 Trans Am GTA Notchback

Paul sent in this photo a while back, but I have just now found it again. He said he wanted me to send him a shot of my Notchback's rear deck......... because his car's paint wasn't right....... It looks all right to me, what do you think.......?

Mangus Moller's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Mangus' car is another European GTA...... A great photo in a great color for 1988: Gunmetal... the rarest color produced that year.

Bret Donaldson's 1988 Trans Am GTA

Bret's GTA is a pristine example of the breed, and he is also a member of my good friend Tom Keliher's Southern California 3rd Generation F-Bodies club..... one of the largest 3rdGen owner's assocations on the West Coast.
